In this episode of The Spiritual Artist Podcast, CJ Miller sits down with writer, actor, and creator Lyn Alicia Henderson for a heartfelt conversation about Affirmative Prayer, intention, and the deeper power behind words. Together, they explore the idea that prayer does not have to belong to organized religion or rigid doctrine. At its core, prayer can simply be understood as a conscious declaration of truth, alignment, and connection. Lyn Alicia beautifully reframes prayer as something much closer to affirmations, intention-setting, and speaking from an awareness of the greater Creative Intelligence already moving through life.

Throughout the conversation, CJ and Lyn Alicia discuss how many people have become uncomfortable with the word “prayer” because of painful religious experiences, yet still embrace practices like affirmations, mindfulness, and visualization without realizing they arise from many of the same spiritual roots. Lyn Alicia explains that Affirmative Prayer carries a different feeling because it is not begging for something outside ourselves. Instead, it is recognizing and declaring the qualities already present within us through our connection to Spirit. The discussion moves naturally into nature, consciousness, energy, and the interconnected intelligence visible throughout creation. From the migration of birds to the balance of ecosystems, CJ shares how observing nature helped him understand Spirit as a living demonstration rather than merely an abstract belief.

The episode also explores the emotional and even physiological effects of prayer and intentional thinking. Referencing ideas connected to the HeartMath Institute, Lyn Alicia describes how practices rooted in love, compassion, gratitude, and affirmative language can influence both our internal state and the atmosphere around us. She speaks about prayer not as helpless pleading, but as a grounding practice that harmonizes the mind, body, and emotions during uncertain times. The result is an uplifting and practical conversation that invites listeners to move beyond fear of spiritual language and rediscover prayer as a deeply human act of alignment, clarity, and conscious intention. SPEAKER_00

First of all, why they should do it. Like, I don't know if you've heard of like the Heart Math Institute, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I have.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, where they found that the you know, when you're doing prayer or doing certain kind of um connective activities and love and compassion and expanding on that, that that energy, that electromagnetic field goes out outside of you and it affects others around you. And so just that on a scientific level, right? When you're doing prayer, you are generating that electromagnetic connection. And you don't have to be doing prayer. You can have love and compassion, you can do affirmations, and that's that's your heart sending out this resonance that not only affects the cells in your body, everything in your body, it harmonizes you with the world outside of you. It harmonize, and again, this can be measured scientifically. I've done like those things where they put it on your finger, and the whole room, when it harmonizes, that changes the whole energy of the room when you have all those people speaking affirmations, and that's not even speaking about God. So we ourselves, our consciousness and our unconscious, is if you know how to talk to your unconscious, because you can say you know you have an unconscious, people are willing to do hypnotism. You are hypnotizing yourself for the better, for your intention. And not only that, it's not just hypnotism, you are literally changing the atmosphere around you. Because, of course, we all know we are all really connected, that there is no separation, really.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome to the Spiritual Artist Podcast. This is Chris Miller. I invite you to join me as I interview artists from a variety of disciplines. We'll share powerful stories and lessons learned while making their art. She has incredible energy, and she transforms that in word. So let me introduce Lynn Alicia Henderson. She is a writer and actor from Silver Springs, Maryland. First made comedy mark in comedy and with her award-winning play, Girls Night Out, she went on to write, produce, and star in the acclaimed short film Sugar, or I'm sorry, Short on Sugar, earning recognition at major film festivals. In 2024, she was selected for the stars hashtag take the lead, writer's intensive, becoming one of four finalists and earning the opportunity to write an Outlander spec script. Her work, Sharp, Funny, and Self-Aware, explores queerness, motherhood, friendship, and race with her on-screen career including numerous guest rules. And you know, this really blew my mind when I read this, guys. I didn't know this when I talked to her. And 14 seasons on ER, where she earned three SAG awards as part of the ensemble cast. Maybe that's why I recognize you, Lynn Alicia. So, listeners, what I will how I met Lynn Alicia is very odd. I actually met her on TikTok. Yes, it happens. It happens. But Lynn Alicia has a wonderful channel on there about prayer. And she she does prayer live on TikTok, and then it's there for you to listen to it. It's incredible. Um, the emotion in her prayer, the power of her prayer. And I thought, you know, people, and I know you're out there listeners, you're afraid of that word prayer. So Lynn and Leisha and I are going to talk about how to be unafraid of it, right, Lynn and Leisha? So tell me.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. Yes, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

You know, because I think people are, right? They they there's so many people I find that are either burned by religion and then they shut down on anything that religion has to offer.

SPEAKER_00

Right, right. And well, it's interesting too, because I mean, sort of like that whole thing with affirmations, right? People who are afraid of prayer, that's essentially what affirmations are, you know, and minus, you know, the God part, right? And you know, tapping into your inner energy or whatever. But it's it's it's interesting because even when I started doing affirmations, I like, okay, let's do affirmations. It was like there was something missing, there was that power underneath. And also the thing that's interesting that's different about affirmations, you can do an affirmation that's positive. It's like, I am great, I'm good. And there's always like some little voice that sometimes pops in and says, Are you really believe that? Is that really true? Right. But when you put prayer, there's like a whole substance of spirit that is supporting you that you can actually go, Yes, this is true, because this is true for God, it's true for me. And when you lean into that, you it you you do know it. It's not like no little voice comes in when you're speaking the God affirmatives about what God knows about you. And it's so way more powerful. But I I love that people at least have gotten an introduction to knowing that there's something more than just what's outside of themselves and that that even starting to just tap into your inner place is a step in the right direction, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, oh, it is. Let's and I you said a wonderful thing in there, and I want to unpack it. You said what works for God works for you. And um uh listeners, I only learned this after I heard uh Linelisha's prayer, I realized that I was trained at the Centers for Spiritual Living in what's called affirmative prayer. And there's a certain four formula that you use of of of c not claiming it as we were very specific. When we when we have that intention, it's not to say I hope to be rich, it's to acknowledge the richness we have right now.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, you said God, when we tap into God, right, right.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's it's funny, I mean, because even in the Bible, you know, it talks about like when you are, you know connected to spirit, you know, God, you know, God is like was the garden keeper, and they said that you know Jesus was the vine and we are the branches, and when we're connected to that, we're always fed, therefore we can always bear fruit, right? So just being connected to source, you can always bear fruit. Now, if you get the branch cut off and you're not connected to source, it's a lot harder. The branch doesn't have that necessarily divine. I mean, and it's not that it doesn't, but it when it doesn't know that it does, it actually blocks off that connection. Now, the connection can happen anyway, you know, because God is always with you, God is always there, right?

SPEAKER_01

It's always there.

SPEAKER_00

You can always it can always happen without your conscious management, you know. But nevertheless, when you are intentional, when you are knowing what you're connecting to, it's like and knowing that you're always connected and living in that, you know, it's it's so it's so freeing, right? It's so like you've got like a whole, I don't want to use the word army, but a whole army, a whole, a whole planet with you. You have everything with you at all times. You don't have to pack that big pack back, it's already there. You don't have to, you know, grab all your crystals and all your this you already have it all, you know. Um, so I I just love that about prayer because it's literally just having a you know that big computer with you always that you can tap into. It's you know, if you know it's there, it's really there, you know.

SPEAKER_01

So I so I use I I love that. And I I what grew me so well is seeing it in nature because I see nature as a demonstration of God. Yes, you know. Um, when I and so for me, when I look out the window and I see the birds going south for the winter and I see that intelligence, right, or or when I see how animals have developed certain skills to survive that keep them alive and how they all work together. Like you have foxes and you have rabbits, and they live, they they don't live in harmony necessarily, but they balance each other.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. No, it's it's it's very yeah, nature is so, you know, so as above as below. It's it's a constant demonstration of spirit at work. And like even like I always love the whole thing where, you know, even where you see death in nature, right? You see a tree has fallen from lightning or whatever, and it's like, oh my gosh, that tree is dead. But yet, in that dead tree or seemingly dead tree, there's mushrooms growing out of it. There's things, there's new life that's coming out of that dead tree that it didn't die. It's it's providing the ecosystem that is never, you know, never without, never, you know, dead, really. It's always turning into something else, just like energy, right? It's just always changing into something else. It's not dying, it's just morphing, you know. It's it's it's an alchemical process. Nature, us, spirit, everything is alchemical. Yeah, well, I love that.

SPEAKER_01

And so when I I learned to do prayer, is I know notice to look for things like that. So if someone is dealing with loss, we pray into the fact that there is no true loss, right? Right, right. That tree limb is it the form it might be lost, but the energy behind it, the vibrancy is still there.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes, and it's uh it's interesting because I know say if I do prayer for somebody who doesn't believe in any, they don't believe in spirit and afterlife, it's always tricky to tell them that they never die. It's it's very hard.

SPEAKER_01

It's very hard.

SPEAKER_00

And so it's it's always an interesting way to build a prayer that hits them, right? Because if it doesn't hit them, they'll reject it in a way, right? And they might still experience like shifts within them, but they're they're blocking themselves because already it's just like, no, there's no, there's no spirit, there's no whatever. But that's one of the things I do like about a certain kind of scientific prayer, right? Where it's like you're building a a truth resonance beneath them, right? So that they can go on the journey. It's like, okay, can you can you see that God is all there is? Like if God is everywhere and you you believe that there is something everywhere that's holding all this together, if you believe that, yes, I believe that. And then you that means you're part of that, you're you're one with that, right? Like that makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

Like, how can you not be, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, right. We're not separate and whatever, and get them, get them on that little journey, and then you know, get them them. Okay, now you've said that. So if that's true, we can say all we can do all the things, right? And and and it's it's amazing how you know that's so moving for people, and they really experience a shift, especially if they're more, you know, whatever the left brain, right brain thing is, right? It's just some people need to be um explained a certain amount of things, which is what I, like I said, I like about um affirmative prayers or even the prayers that I do, I feel like one of the reasons why people really connect to them is without knowing it, there's kind of a understanding of things that they're going through. And people have like said, it's like, like, I've never thought of it like that, right? And it's just, you know, that's beautiful because it created an opening that it allowed them to see, you know, like I might be a Christian, but I've always been confused. I didn't know why this was a certain way. But in a prayer, if you can sort of just give a little, a little something, a little explanation about something, it's so opening. It's so, you know, it's so beautiful just to have those little awakenings that just little by little you build a little structure, you know, beneath you that just helps you in all of life, I think.

SPEAKER_01

You know, it does. I I was taught to, it's like creating an argument, like a lawyer would create an argument. But you know, I want to go back to something you said because I think it's probably the biggest confusion behind all the world's troubles is duality, you know, and it's so funny. Every almost every religion I was raised Catholic, and we're always taught God is all powerful, but then they start saying, but right? Like God is all powerful, but God is not in that person or God's not in the devil. And you're like, but wait a minute, if God's not there, then God isn't all-powerful because there's something outside of God, right?

SPEAKER_00

Right, right. Yeah, or people who believed in all the scary movie things but didn't believe in God, right? Like, okay, where is that coming from if if we don't have spirit, right? It's like you're feared of afraid of the boogeyman, but you don't believe in the bigger, higher good, right? You know, and so I always find that like it's like, yeah, you you it's helpful to create an argument that they at least have to go, huh? But but duality is challenging. And I feel like I grew up, you know, my parents weren't religious, but I was always I loved going to church and I went to all my friends' Christian churches, and you know, I remember in the third grade, they thought it was crazy because I like went, I thought I like had a like whole I fell in love with Jesus in like uh in the third grade because afterwards I'm I'd gone to like this coffee house and they're playing music, and it was all this music that I love, like guitar music or whatever, and it was all Jesus songs, and it just like just hearing that music and singing about Jesus stood by the road. And I was just like, along with brownies and potato chips, which is very much attached to my love of Jesus, believe me. Um, it was like a whole revelation. And I went to school, I was like drawing, and it was doing like everybody was doing streaking or whatever. So I would draw pictures on my desk. It's like, you know, fall in love with Jesus and his love will come a streaking, you know. I was drawing that on my desk, and then the teachers were asking my friends, like, what's wrong with Lynn? Is you know, she's kind of gone crazy or whatever. So because I I literally, it was just like a whole, you know. So I've always um I've always been a church go. I don't even know where I started, what my question was.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you said that you always you always had that connection, which is which is interesting, right? It's like, you know, I really I I try to tell people that I don't believe that we come into life a blank canvas. I believe that we come in with personality, predisposition, things that we like. And obviously, you came into this life with that understanding.

SPEAKER_00

With that understanding, without even understanding it. And what I also remember saying all the time when I was a kid, I was always like, Where's the magic? Right? Like it was just like I was, and I was wondering, I used to wonder, like, why can't I just think something and you get it? Like I was real, I there was so many things that I just and it was like, gosh, there's no magic. And I'm I was little saying that, you know, but at least I know when I went to church, I could feel the magic. But outside of it, it was like nobody seemed to have it, nobody seemed to really embody what I thought was just like sparkle. And and again, it had nothing to do with like, you know, movie star sparkle, just like life sparkle. And and I I I'll say that when I when I came to California after, you know, all the it was like, here is the magic. I felt the magic when I went places that you know, I went, you know, I dabbled in a lot of different spiritual atmospheres and stuff like that. But it was when I went to certain kind of churches that were more, you know, a mixture of everything, I felt the magic. I was like, oh my God. And it was literally like I started crying. Like I they were singing a song, and it was actually an old song I might have heard in church somewhere else, but it was just like it connected, and I started crying because I was like, ah, this is it. And it was such a beautiful moment that I just remember like feeling like this is where the magic was. And the magic was in knowing all that I had known, all that I had known inside being expressed in a way that wasn't blocked, that wasn't uh, but not those people, but not them. But you're wrong. It was just like the openness and the love that I always felt inside my heart, too. Like I was, I'm definitely always way too, you know, as a kid, way too open-hearted for my own good, you know. And so it was experiencing not the but not thems, you know, and that was such a like whoa, beautiful, like this is where the magic is.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's interesting because you said that you were you were you were like looking for the magic, and the magic is something that you you declare. And isn't that interesting that you've come around and listeners will share this shortly that she's written a book, uh uh a PDF book that you can download called Pray and Slay, and she's doing these prayers, but isn't that sort of like claiming the magic?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, absolutely. I mean, I think claiming God and claiming prayer is claiming the magic, right? I mean, it's and and just even not only just in prayer, but you know, words. I mean, I also think like, you know, there's a powerful quote in the Bible, abide in the word, and the word will abide in you. That's the you know, my version of it. Um, and that's that's the magic. It's in the the words have magic. They have they have resonance with a history of people praying about these things with these powerful words, you know, and just kind of like with say, you know, um Indian or Vedic, Vedic um words, Sanskrit, right? The every the seed words have all that energy and power, right? It's like we're we're sitting there saying omnom, whatever, and it's seed words that's delivering a certain energy. And it's like, okay, well, all spiritual texts have that, I feel. Like when I when I do, like, you know, I've done mantras and stuff, but when I go through the like the 91st Psalm in the Bible, you know, he who dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. When if I say that, I am I am good. Like, I know the whole thing by heart because I I had to learn it because again, there was a lot of yeah, I had a lot of fear, especially like flying. So many things just made me scared. And when I started, and a friend, not a friend of mine, my hairdresser, when I was a kid, she went blind because of diabetes or whatever, and it was a big thing, and I didn't see her for years. Then she came back and she wasn't blind anymore. I was like, What did you do? She's like, Baby, I read the 91st Psalm every day, nine times a day, and I got my mind back, girl. That was that's all I needed. Wow, yeah, and and and true to form, I mean, that 91st psalm has I mean, it's lit just the the trust and the knowing and the connection and those powerful words, those seed words that are just in there with so much power has healed so many things within me. Just you know, I mean, that's just literally my go-to. If like things get real rough, and I and I don't just do it once, I do it over and over again, you know, and it's just it's literally magic. It is literally well, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I think what I like the most about you is you really you obviously have a very strong understanding of the Bible and you have that Christian uh heritage and you use it, you speak the words, and you you speak them well in your book. I see that you reference phrases from the Bible in every single prayer, but you're not tied into one faith. You know, you you see the universality of this relationship, and and and I love that. I I just find that very fascinating that you you're embracing the Christianity, and yet you're also saying, but I embrace you, I embrace whoever you are.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Not only that, I mean, you know, I spent years doing yoga, right? And years, like 30 years doing yoga. Um, and I had like one of the like the second time I ever did it, I had a weird kundalini thing where my brain exploded, I was in Savasana, my brain exploded, there were all these colors, it was like I was buzzing, it was a whole I didn't know that that could happen. This is the second time I did yoga, I didn't know what that was, I didn't know what could happen. And I told my yoga teachers, like, when we were in Savasana, all of it and he was like, he's like, people meditate for years to have that experience, and you just had that, and and so again, that that helps me to even align more, right? Like just just having that visceral spiritual experience that was so alive that to me, it's all connected. Like, how could it not be, right? And all these different methodologies, they feed you and they feed me. And I feel like you know, when I'm when I'm doing all the things, it's literally for me, I can get into such a blissed out state, you know, in life. In in just like uh it's sometimes like okay, I just come touch ground because I can get so excited, like I can literally feel such power. And and it's funny because I was talking to my friend recently about um people speaking in tongues and all that, and again, in Christianity, there is when the spirit moves people and they start doing dancing and doing all those things. It's it's like that speaking in tongues, that's you know, dervish dancing. There's all these things that are all connected to ways to speak to, reach, experience spirit and God. And it's a shame to demonize something or not look into something because of something, you know, some you know, dogma that you know people, you know, and I can understand some people like dogma because it feels safe. It feels very like okay, I've got rules. I need I need guardrails, right? Some people really enjoy and need them, and God bless you. I do not like guardrails.

SPEAKER_01

No, no.

SPEAKER_00

So I know and maybe it's because I'm an Aquarius, you know.

SPEAKER_01

We're kind of we're you know, having a lot of so let me ask you this because I love your energy, and I and and and um I do think that there's a a lack uh of people willing to do prayer, or at least what I call The empowered prayer that you're doing? I mean, there's a lot of people that'll sit there, go, please, please, I need money. You know, that and that is not, and what do you think? How how do you think, how would you encourage my listeners to go, okay, look, if you have a problem with the word prayer, call it uh declaration or affirmative or or you know, how would you tell them to get around it, but why should they do it? More importantly, why?

SPEAKER_00

Well, for instance, well, first of all, why they should do it.

It harmonize, and then and again, this can be measured scientifically. I've done like those things where they put it on your finger, and the whole room, when it harmonizes, that changes the whole energy of the room when you have all those people speaking affirmations, and that's not even speaking about God. So, we ourselves, our consciousness and our our unconscious is if you know how to talk to your unconscious, because you can say you know you have an unconscious, people are willing to do hypnotism. You are hypnotizing yourself for the better, for your intention. And not only that, it's not just hypnotism, you are literally changing the atmosphere around you because, of course, we all know we are all really connected, that there is no separation, really, but it's also scientific, you know. Yeah, to me, a reason to do it is because it's really true. You can change all those things with being affirmative and not including spirit if you don't want to, but you're still doing a benefit and you're doing it for yourself and literally for yourselves, for your very cells, for your mitochondria. They are hearing, they are listening, you know, they are paying attention and knowing that again, you use you, you know, they show things in a petri dish. It's like by being watched, something shifts, something changes. We can see that scientific and science is now beyond proving it. It's done, it's a done deal, right? You know, that's pretty much a fact. So, why would you not take advantage of electricity if it just showed you how to use it, right? Why would you not then plug the plug into the wall so you can get to the electricity now that I told you about it, right? You're just kind of like saying, No, I'm just gonna keep with the candles, which is fine if you think that's a beautiful way to go.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, you know, so for someone, you know, it's it's been it's a been a rough couple years for the the world, let alone America. And so what you're saying is look, you you have an effect. You still have you, you don't even you don't have to march in the streets or but you literally can just align your consciousness through prayer.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, absolutely, absolutely, and in fact, that's one of the reasons why I started doing the prayers online, is because it is heavy, right? All the things going on, and believe me, I get triggered, you know, and and and I and I and I don't I'm not like you know, I'm not going out in the sun all day.

SPEAKER_01

Not marching the streets, huh? No, I know I'm too old for that, but yes, I know it's like my knees hurt.

SPEAKER_00

Um so but you're not helpless, yeah. No, not at all. And and I know that I started, you know, just as a regular practice, just started writing prayers for myself, for you know, like whatever thing was bothering me in the world or whatever topic, feeling disempowered, feeling challenged, writing prayers for those for me. And like I would spend a day just and it was so relaxing, it was so healing. Like I literally, once I started doing that, it's like I relaxed, and it was it was amazing because then it was like, you know, they always talk about being prayed up. Then when I would hear or experience things that were out of balance, it didn't affect me. It was just like I was so it's kind of like when with affirmative prayer where you build the truth and you know it, it's like, okay, I know that this is something that's happening out there, but in here, you know, if I seek first the kingdom, all is you know, it says no matter what, if I seek first the kingdom, everything will be given unto you, everything is gonna work out, you know. It's not, but if you're worried about what's happening in the world and you're going through the vicissitudes and the ups and downs, yeah, you're gonna get thrown around. But if you know the higher truth, if and it's it's it's one thing to say, just look at it from the big picture. The world is changing and everything's gonna come out better, perhaps, because we're gonna build new systems. And you know, you can intellectualize it, but that doesn't make you feel good, right? That's just kind of like okay, this is what really sucks. But if you are living in alignment with spirit and abiding in the word, and the word abides in you, you you really do feel the protection, you really do feel the like, yeah, nothing's gonna, you know, no germs, infection, or the governments of men, right? Like that's right.

SPEAKER_01

No government what wonderful. So you mentioned something there. I want to unpack it. You mentioned several things. I gotta keep up with you. So you you mentioned uh seek first the kingdom. So when I was a kid, go being raised in the Catholic Church, I was led to believe that that's like when you get into that pearly gates in heaven. Right, right. Yes, yes, yes. That that's what people think. But I think, and I don't know how you agree with that, but I think it's seek first the kingdom, seek the consciousness of spirit first, right? Always do that first. Yes, it's a big thing for me when I take people on my art retreats. We we sit in a circle and it's like let's align first, then paint, align first, then write music. You know, so seek do you feel that way? Like when you hear that, seek first the kingdom? How do you well?

SPEAKER_00

You know, it's interesting about that too. The fact that it wasn't that it's not just heaven. When I was like in like I was in a Christian church, I think it was the church of Christ at the time when I was living in New York, and we had Bible study like constantly. And that's where they spoke about it being seek first God in your life, right? So it came out of that understanding, just like you know, sure, heaven too, because we were super Christians, so yes, but also live that heaven on earth, right? Seek first the kingdom if you are living in alignment with the word of God, right? You that is seeking first the kingdom in all things. So if you've got an issue at work and you're feeling like, well, that boss doesn't like me and doesn't, well, what would what would God say, you know, from your Bible studies? How do you handle that? You know, love thy bro neighbor as your brother, all those things. That's seeking first the kingdom, doing what the word says, and everything's gonna be added unto you from that, because maybe that job isn't gonna work out, but because someone saw you behaving a certain way because you were seeking first the kingdom, that person that's more in alignment is gonna see that and they're gonna offer you something better than you even imagine. When you seek first the kingdom, and and Christian or not, I believe that to be true, you know. In in all, I mean, even when you're doing prayer and um you're praying about something, it's like this isn't working out. Just the act of doing the prayer shifts something and changes how your spirit moves through things. You're changing your destiny, you're changing your timeline when you're doing prayer because you're setting an intention, you're you're telling spirit, and then your whole spirit body knows, and it's like, oh, we were going this way. The assignment changes even just a little bit. So new opportunities are opening up more in alignment with the person that you want to be, that you're heading towards, as opposed to that old person, that old you. So that's kind of part of slothing off the things that no longer serve you so that you can go on the higher, better path that's gonna make you happier in the long run anyway, you know. And I think that's true across all the all the realms for me.

SPEAKER_01

So what I hear there is, you know, that's kind of like when when someone would come to me and say, Um, I think it's a for me, this is in my language, I think it's aligning with I call it the creative field, the creative field of intelligence, which is just another name for God, spirit, source, mother nature, all that is the one. But when you align with it, so when if someone comes to me and says, Oh, I feel like I don't have enough money, I say, Well, let's focus on where you have wealth right now.

SPEAKER_00

Right, right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and people are like, Well, I don't have any wealth. I'm like, Well, you're alive and you're talking to me, and you have a moment to talk to me. And you know, there you you start, it's like you you pick up the little things. Look where you are alive and free and have you have the time to sit with me. Some people have such busy jobs they don't even have time to sit down, and so you you it's the kingdom, the prosperity, or not just prosperity, but love, all those things. If you recognize that you're already there, I feel like you shift your energy and you attract more.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely, yeah, absolutely. I mean, and that's that's part of the whole gratitude thing, too, right? It's like if you're grateful for what you already have and recognize the good that is already happening, that's gonna attract more of that good. You know, you're you're you're because you're already grateful. It's like you're you're already telling spirit like, yes, this is wonderful. And then it's just like, oh, and the gates are open, but when there's fear and lack and whatever, it's like the doors are kind of like, you know, it's it's kind of hard to, you know, even change your vibration to allow or resonate with the good that's already there. That's and and also getting out of our construct of yes, what prosperity and abundance is, right? You know, because it's not it's definitely not just money. You can have all the money in the world and can't do anything, right? But you can have your you can have your cat, like that's that abundant love or your dog, and you know, just all the things that you know, whether you're wealthy or rich, you're still doing the same things, you know. Like here in California, it's in it's in not California, LA specifically, you know, there's there's um there's a you know, there's a lot of really wealthy people, right? And I always find it fascinating, you know, because I love to walk around neighborhoods where it's just like really rich and big houses, and I love looking in the windows because when the nice people don't get caught doing, yeah. Well, no, you're just walking by and they love to have their curtains open so they you know, so you see artwork or whatever they got going on. But what I think is also interesting is when you're walking through those neighborhoods, they have a big screen TV and you can walk in a poor neighborhood, they're both watching the same football game. There's they're both watching, you can literally, they're all watching the TV, they're all watching the same show. You have all the money in the world, and you're still sitting there watching TV. You're not doing anything more fantastical, and your big screen TV actually is just as big as the other person's because we're all, you know, so it's like almost like what are you trying to get more money for? It's like you're you know, there's just so much that humans are doing that is the same, whether you are what super wealthy or poor. So it's like being caught up in the money, it's like that's a that's a that's a that's a block.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, it definitely is because that's it's it's and it's falsely what we're told. We're told abundances. I was I I found what I remember I went to a coach years ago and and and I was working 60 hours a week, I had my own business, and she but and and and we talked about prosperity, and she said, but you're not feeling prosperous because you don't have any time to yourself. I mean literally working, working, working. I was making good money, right? But where was the time to just like this morning? It's it's a cool morning here in Dallas, and I sat out on the deck and I have a big cottonwood tree, and the leaves are just going and I'm just like uh and I took the time to just sit there. Yeah, I didn't have to run to an office, I didn't have to report to a boss. That's abundance.

SPEAKER_00

That's abundance, right? I mean, the fact that, you know, I mean, for instance, like as a somebody who's been an actor for you know 30 years, there's a lot of not working time, right? Like a lot that is very unpleasant, I would say. And one can feel not prosperous because it's like, I'm not working, and all my friends are working, and I I didn't work at all last year, you know, whatever the thing is, right? And at the same time, I think about being an actor for all these years and raising my son. And at one point I was married, but you know, a lot of the time I wasn't. And all the time that I got to spend with him because I wasn't working on a set where the people who are working all the time, 16, 17 hour days, they're not getting to spend time with their kids. Their kids are at great private schools, but you know, they're they're oh yeah, they're they're too exhausted. They're they're they're living their dream of acting, but they're they're doing the same thing over and over and over again, and they're exhausted. Meanwhile, it's like I get to go in, I when I go in and get to work and do a show. And when you do those, especially back in the day, you know, you got paid nicely, and it's like then the rest of the time, you know, for weeks on end, I could take, I could go to my kids everything, I could do all the things, and it's you know, people always talk about it, it's like, oh my god, they grew up so fast. And I felt like he grew up so slow, it was it took so long, like because I spent so much time with him. It wasn't, I was just like, When are you gonna turn nine?

SPEAKER_01

I did that, I did that with my son. I I spent a lot of time with him, and and I I I because I knew I was only gonna have one, and I just I did everything. So, so uh let's talk about this. I'm gonna put a picture of your book here called Pray and Slay, and it's a PDF book, Prayers for that vibe. 21 powerful prayers. Um, when did you do this? When did you create this?

SPEAKER_00

Well, oddly, I started it was I started creating it pretty quickly because I started doing those prayers online. And people would say, Oh my god, these are great. You need to write a book, right? So that wasn't in my mind when I did it. And like I said, I definitely feel like the whole process of even the prayer book and doing the prayers, I feel like that was all spirit-led. Like I was following my inner guidance, like, I'm gonna do this for self-care and being a beneficial presence on the planet. And then it's just like, then it's like, oh wow, you should do a book. And then I had a friend who was just like, I can help you, right? And and and and he's very technical. And and and it was just like, well, I only have this amount, so it's like, well, make it 21, right? So because I'd already, you know, be in my regular practice of writing prayers, right? I already had so many, but then it's like, okay, let me become intentional about you know, finishing it out and making a book, because 21 is also a very powerful number for changing habits and doing stuff. And I didn't want to, you know, there of course there's gonna be more prayer books, right? There's more, there's volume two, there's there's a way to do all that, but I feel like just the simplicity, just like let me just follow the energy, and it's one of those things where every step that I took, where I could have said, No, that's gonna be too much work. That I just said yes, right? I said yes and allowed it to flow, and so it literally happened within a month.

SPEAKER_01

Oh wow, yeah, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

And the beauty was because I was like, but a book that's inspired.

SPEAKER_01

I think when you're inspired, you're really in the flow, you're in the creative field, and time is irrelevant.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and it was so fun, of course, to do because yeah, I it like yes, like and yes, it became it, it is a flow, it is a flow, and I I think it's so lovely because you know, I spent a lot of time, you know, writing scripts, etc., and doing this, and there's and that's very challenging in terms of the business, right? And and there's all these no's or whatever. And this is this was a the universe giving me a yes every step. All the things that normally get in the way, like uh, I don't know how to it's just like friends were showing up. I love your prayer, I want to help you do this. Nobody was charging me anything, you know what I mean? Even getting it online, setting up the the the pay side, like this is not something I would choose to do on my own.

SPEAKER_01

So, right, I want to so I want to share with our listeners prayer 17. Okay, and what we're gonna break this down a little bit. It's creative flow. Yes, so I love this. Listeners, you know, I'd love this, and I love how you start this. If you're ready to create, but something's been blocking the flow. Wait, let's get grounded, let's take a breath, let's pray. Okay, so there is one, and I so I'm gonna, if you don't mind, I'm enjoying this very much, yes. There is one creative intelligence, one infinite presence expressing through all things. This presence is expressing through me now. We discussed that earlier. If it's everywhere, it's in me, and then this is a quote where you pull from the Bible. So this gives you that Bible uh secure. He has filled him with the spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge, and with all kinds of skills to make artistic designs. I love it. Exodus 35, 31-32. So, next paragraph. In truth, I know my creativity is not separate from God, it is already established within me. It is spirit in action as me. Lovely sentence. The one source is never restricted, so my expression is not restricted. God is the doer, I of myself do nothing. Woo! I love that line. God is the doer, folks. I of myself do nothing. You just have to align, right? Yes, and then it creativity happens. Yeah, the indwelling presence does it all and does it well. Yes, ideas arise with ease and move through me as a true expression of my purpose, my gifts, and my design. My work has value, of course. My voice has a place, my creativity has impact, it uplifts, it resonates, it reaches those it is meant to reach. See, all these things artists worry about. How do I sell my work? Who I reach, how do I affect it? Is it valuable?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, of course. Yes, exactly. Yeah, those are all the things that people worry about, and it's just not true. It gets in the way of gets in the way. It gets in the way.

SPEAKER_01

It's just there. It's there. Anything I have accepted, consciously or unconsciously, that told me to play small, to hold back, or to doubt myself, I expunge that now. The power of your statements is wonderful. Um deleted, cleared, no longer active. Every agreement with image limitation, gone. Every belief in lack, delay, or comparison, dissolved on contact right now. I trust what's unfolding through me. That's all you have to do. You align and you trust the ideas, the flow, the next steps, your book happening. This book happening, right? Everything required is already within. I follow the impulse, I create without overthinking. I love this. This is green light energy. It's go time, it's already in motion with gratitude. I release this word, knowing it is done, and so it is. Amen. Hallelujah. However, you want to end it. Lovely. I love, I love it. It's go time, it's already in motion. So, what you're doing, I I feel, is you're saying it's already here. You're I'm not making something new happen. I'm not making this, it's already here for you. All you have to do is recognize it, listen for it, see it.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Yeah, no, absolutely. Yeah, and I love again, it's it, it's it's a prayer and it's a pep talk, right? It's like it is, it is. It's getting, you know, that because so much of it is emotion, right? Of your vulnerability or openness allows you to connect and believe, right? It's just, you know, athletes do that self-talk, right? With it's like, I am great, I am whatever. It's and it's interesting. I just saw um the Michael Jackson movie, and in it, like you know, and this is years ago, years before, so many movements, he had on his mirror all these little sayings, I am beautiful, I am great, I am good. And they would show before he recorded, he did these affirmations. And like I said, this was like in the 80s, you know, and so it's so powerful. And as an artist, to get out of your way, get out of your head, and allow it to flow and not worry about outcome, you know, because that's the that's the that's one of the destroyers of your your creative flow. Exactly. And so I think it's it's I do enjoy being able to like identify my stuff and then know that as it as it's true for me, it's true for all of us, you know, and then the solution is true for all of us, you know.

SPEAKER_01

So how does that feel when you when you're when these words are coming to you? How does it feel?

SPEAKER_00

Um beautiful. I love it. Yeah, I love it because it's well, I think it's beautiful to have truth reflected back to you, however it is reflected back to you. And and that's and and I think that's even why I like to, you know, I told you I um I like to record my prayers myself voic vocally and listen to them over and over again. So, and it's like a it's like a it's like a a beautiful loop going in my head. I'm hearing my voice telling me all these powerful things. And that's what I've like, I've even told friends like, do this yourself. I'll write something for you to say, record, and listen to over and over. Again, it's so powerful, but a lot of times they're like, I like your voice better, you know. It's like that's fine, but having your own voice speak to you, it's almost like your your higher self speaking to you.

SPEAKER_01

It is your higher self, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It is your of course, it's it's amazing, it's so empowering. It's it's like it to me, it hits all the levels, and I yet I feel like I am very I'm very all the all the things, right? I'm very, I'm very tactile.

SPEAKER_01

So, one last thing I want to really address, because this is this I think is so key. There's two sides to I'm gonna say what I feel, and then you can give your opinion. I feel like with prayer or affirmative prayer or declaration, I call it a spiritual declaration, there's two sides. There's the intellectual argument, there's the looking around and going, Well, look, the sun is all the sun takes care of everything on the planet, blah, blah, and follow that. But then there's the emotional feeling place. And a good declarer is someone that puts both together, which you obviously do. Then Alicia, you got so much energy. So you're wrapping that energy behind the behind the thought. So you have thought and feeling.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, which is essentially, I mean, that is what prayer is, right? When when we're praying, if I'm praying for myself, even if I'm on my knees, I'm connecting my honest intention with trust in something outside, even if it's outside, trust in something greater than me, I should say. That is that is prayer. It's also heart math, right? It's also aligning that heart energy when you are open and vulnerable and having emotion. That's your heart speaking. And so you're you're you're doing all the things, whether it's on a physical level, whether it's on a metaphysical level, whether it's on an intellectual, it's all coming together. It's spiritual. So I just love that it is it's all the things, right? It's and it's so beautiful. Like that's how God works, right? Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_01

God is in everything, so it's in all things.

SPEAKER_00

It's working, it's working through the science. It's working, you know, science was created so that we could understand God. That was the original intention. So we somewhere lost that trek along the way, but literally it was like so that man can understand God.

SPEAKER_01

Right. It's like they they go against each other when they don't, they're actually the same thing, exactly, exactly. You know, and I would even go back to what you said about the movement. So there's the there's the uh intellectual, there's the heart space, and there's also the somatic, the movement, the physicality, and that's why you get back into those the dancing and the feeling it embodying all that when you embody all that, it's fire, and that's the thing, too.

SPEAKER_00

What I love about music, I will say too, and especially like the music I always wrote, like I started writing music actually, like I was going through a breakup and I was so sad, and I couldn't deal with I didn't know how to express these emotions, and I'm not a I don't like I'm not a poet kind of person, but when there was music, poetry came out, and I literally I'd be talking about like the pain, and always it ended up being a spiritual song, not on purpose, it led into always a spiritual song, and and that was so beautiful. And then when I would sing it, like wherever I would sing it, it was amazing because I could feel myself cracked open, but also the people like you know, I you know, I have a fine voice, I can carry a tune, but um people would be mesmerized by the song because it was so connected, they were just like, I love it, it's so beautiful because it was connected, not because, again, I have this amazing, like, oh my god, you killed me with your voice, whatever, but the connection, you can feel it. And when I know when I sing, I there is something that opens up that allows spirit to come out of my singing voice. And again, not like magical singing voice, but the mat it I allow it, and it's and I I do recognize that it's just like wow, that that I felt that you know, and that's one like sometimes when I'm in a super overwhelmed state, I will pick up my guitar and play one of my songs and just allow it to move me, and it always does, which is kind of crazy because it's like you know, I'm moved by my own self.

SPEAKER_01

No, you know what? Listen, I'm the same way. I'll I'll I'll say something when I'm in the flow, like right now in this conversation, and then when I'm blue or dealing with something, I'll listen to it and I'll go, Oh man, that guy is so smart. You know, like I'll pick up my book and I'll go, Who wrote this? This guy was so smart. I want to be more like him, right? Yeah, no, which is that's when and then when you co-create with spirit, that's what happens.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And and I love that, yeah. And like you said, those that those flow states are being God moving through you, and and and it even happens, you know, when if I'm writing a script and I have a plan of an idea of where I want these characters going, what they want to do, and they start doing their own thing. I have literally cried because I didn't want them to do what I was being, they were doing themselves. They were and I was just like so upset because it did not fit the whole story that I built. But I but because I didn't get attached to the ending or whatever, I allowed it to flow. Of course, it came out perfectly and was beautiful, but it took me. It was like, and I was so upset. I just remember it's like and I was writing and I was crying. I was like, I don't want this, I don't want this, but it had to be, it could it just couldn't be any other way based on the energy that was created in the story. It was just it was but it was devastating.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I love what you just said because that's what I tell artists all the time is you know, that the painting is gonna tell you what it wants to be, and you just listen and you do it, and you go on the journey, and and you might be like, Well, I don't like that color, but that painting wants to be in that color or whatever. You you know, you just listen, right? Yeah, yeah. So, what is what's next for you, uh Lynn Alicia? Because you uh I mean, I I hear in lots of different things, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I'm I don't know. I mean, I mean, I don't have I'm literally just following whatever. I mean, I'm definitely gonna be writing more prayers and putting them out there as I'm, you know, sometimes I wake up, it's like today I'm gonna do one. You know, it's just sort of I allow it to, I don't push it, right? And um, so sometimes that's three weeks and sometimes it's four days.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's lovely though. That's exactly where you need to be.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

When it's inspired.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because well, I'll say, like, like, not that I'm that old, but I am old enough to know how my little instrument and how I want to live, how it feels and what it does feel like is going with the flow of what my day is telling me, you know, as best as as I can, because that's when the right things, the right exercise, all the things happen in the best way. And I'm, you know, I'm grateful that I can do that, but I built that way of life by trusting, right? By trusting that all that I need is going to be handled, however, it's gonna be handled. Um, and so um what's next is adding to the book as it as as I add. And also, you know, there's been some um some people I know want me to do a podcast with them, so that is sort of in the works. With we'll see how that goes, because it's uh, you know, working with other people. Like I don't since I've kind of you know, I work with other people when I'm working on a set or on certain projects, but for the most part, I do have an artist's life of making up my own decisions, right? Of what something's gonna look like and be like or whatever. So working with other people, and we're not all always in the same.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's another thing. It is another thing, it's another thing.

SPEAKER_00

So learning to surrender and also have your boundaries and also whatever. So, so that's but that's I'm a it's a process that seems that spirit wants me to go on because all that keeps opening up, and of course, all of those things are ways to express more God, right? In the world, you know, express and even if it even if it's not a God podcast or whatever, I can't help but bring that in in some way, shape, or form that's gonna be different than somebody else, perhaps. And somebody will need to or will enjoy hearing something coming from a different place, from a different um, I don't want to say point of view, but just perspective. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I love it, I love it. I do I have a podcast that I can I'm gonna recommend you to. I'm gonna send your your contact information to him. I think you'd be he'd like it. He does do art math and his podcast, I think it's science and spirituality. And I think you would be a good match. I'm hearing that. So so um, and I will listeners, uh uh Lynn Alicia's contact information, her Instagram and her TikTok, I'll put in the notes here so you can find it. Um, and you can you can go and download a copy of this book. It's great, it's the kind of thing you can read late at night when you wake up and you're worried about something. Um it's beautifully worked.

SPEAKER_00

There's the prey slay, there's there's all these different prey and slaves. The one on TikTok is the one where you can download, I think, right off the yeah, profile. And and then there's also the Lynn Alicia of it all, which is a whole nother Instagram page or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, I'm kind of so is there anything else you'd like to share that we we we've talked about a lot, and this has been so much fun.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, no, I I know it was a wonderful conversation, and I definitely I just wanted to say, like, I love I've heard you speak about you're a gardener and you love to garden, and I am the same way. Like, I totally when you talk about your garden and looking at it, and I am totally I have tons of succulents.

SPEAKER_01

I oh so do I, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I just when I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is I go and just stand, you know, at the back door and just you know, obsess over all the beauty in the backyard, you know, all the greens, all the plants I've I've I've planted that, you know, it's moved in certain places because it didn't survive there, but I move it somewhere else and it flourishes. And just watching that, and it's just when you you look at it, it's just like it's magical, and everything is flourishing because they're in their right place, you know, and and and being the not the creator, but certainly the I would say the the backyard alchemist, right? You know, is is a is a wonderful morning feedback loop, you know what I mean, of appreciation and beauty, and so I just wanted to share that.

SPEAKER_01

I wish you live closer. I have a lot I could give you.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Well I'm always handing out plants because I grow too many, I grow so many, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I totally get okay.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Well, let me know.

SPEAKER_00

But this is wonderful. Thank you. Thank you for inviting me. I really love talking to you, so it's great.
